Flirts with 40 points in victory
Tatum amassed 38 points (14-30 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 8-10 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 36 minutes during Sunday's 120-119 win over the Pelicans.
Analysis
Tatum shined offensively once again Sunday, leading all players in scoring and shots made while hauling in a team-high-tying rebound total and finishing as one of two players with a double-double. Tatum posted his second-highest scoring mark of the season Sunday, trailing his season-high 43 points that he tallied Dec. 21. Tatum has tallied at least 35 points and 10 rebounds in three outings this year.

Logs 18th double-double of season
Tatum finished Friday's 114-97 loss to Sacramento with 15 points (5-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 12 rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes.
Analysis
Tatum matched his fewest field-goal attempts (13) in a single game this season, which could be attributed to Boston's roster finally being back at full strength. The 26-year-old superstar forward was on an MVP trajectory during the early portion of the campaign amid Kristaps Porzingis' absence, but the former's numbers have tapered off a bit lately. Even so, Tatum is averaging 24.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 3.2 threes across his last nine contests and has a soft matchup on tap for Sunday against the Pelicans, who rank 28th in the league in defensive efficiency rating (117.7).

Dazzles with 29 points
Tatum logged 29 points (11-23 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal over 38 minutes during Tuesday's 118-106 victory over Denver.
Analysis
Tatum struggled with his perimeter shot, but Boston didn't need to rely on long-range proficiency. Nikola Jokic's (illness) absence left the Nuggets vulnerable inside, and Tatum joined Kristaps Porzingis in exploiting the deficiency. Tatum is kicking off January with a bang, averaging 27.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.8 steals over the first four games of the year.
