Why Can't I Use Certain Cards in Some Competitions?

Sorare MLB competitions are divided into two main types: In-Season and Classic. The reason you may not be able to use certain cards depends on their season edition and the competition type.

Season Editions & Competition Types

• In-Season Competitions require current season cards (e.g., 2025 MLB cards for the 2025 season). These competitions offer cash rewards, along with Essence, Energy, Cards, and XP.
• Classic Competitions allow older season cards (e.g., 2024 MLB cards and earlier) but do not offer cash prizes. Instead, rewards include In-Season Cards, Essence, Energy, and XP.

Why This Matters

Your ability to enter a competition depends on the season edition of your cards. If you're trying to enter an In-Season Competition with an older card, it won’t be eligible unless powered with Energy. However, those older cards still have value in Classic Competitions, where you can earn In-Season Cards and other rewards.
